Eight Hours Without Power

So you may have heard that Northern California was hit with a monster of a storm late last week. With a dark house and a muddy backyard, these two things really came in handy:

  • Headlamp. I wore one around the house on Friday so I could clean out the closets, cook dinner (thank goodness for gas stovetops), fold some clothes, re-read old (but good) shelter magazines, unpack from our holiday travels ... All the fun things you do when you have no electricity.
  • Tretorn Ballena rubber boots. I definitely got my money's worth out of these over the past three days.

(BTW, our eight-hour black-out on Friday really wasn't so bad — especially when you consider that there are still people without power this morning.)
