I read quite a few blogs.* And one of my favorite things to do is check out the comments. But you may have noticed that I don't have the comments feature turned on for my own site. This is something that I've been going back and forth on for a while now. The main reason I don't: If I activate comments, I get an email every time one is written so that I can approve/publish it. This is great because I get instant alerts ... but it also means I get a lot of spam comments/emails.
However, with the new house will come lots of new decorating projects. So I'm hoping the Internet (i.e., YOU out there) will give me lots of feedback and advice. And if I have to delete a few additional pharmaceutical, online gambling and no-interest home loan spams in my inbox every day? It's worth it.

What blogging software do you use? I switched from MT to Wordpress last year, and I love it. I have my comments set up so I don't get an email every time -- I have to visit the admin panel to see them and approve/disapprove. Once someone has commented and been approved once, they can comment without moderation. I have yet to have a spam comment make it through to the site, which is a huge step up from MT.
I'm so happy you're enabling them, though. I always want to comment on stuff you post, and then I worry that I'll be annoying you if I send you an email instead. ;)

Ohhh how fun to get comment. Now what to say... I can't wait to watch the process of your new home! Oh, and just to help your cause I can let you know WE have a Wii room. Ours isn't fancy or anything, but I gave up and got a futon, a club chair and some nice 5 shelf shelves to keep it bare and clean. Then I allowed the hubby to string outdoor patio lights corner to corner to create a club feel. It's actually pretty fun in there at night. Good luck on that...

Anna - I'm using MT, but I like the way you have your comments set up in Wordpress. I wonder if MT can do that ... And your emails could never be annoying!

Thanks so much for the mention of my blog!! And congrats on enabling comments - you will love all the kind things people have to say about your posts.
Every now and again I get a spam message that I need to go in and delete, but it's minimal work. And I'd much rather do a few deletes than my readers entering annoying word verifications each time!
