On the Move

We've spent the past few weeks packing up box after box and it's finally moving day! The previous owners of the new place vacated this past weekend, so Jon and I went over and snapped a few photos. Like this one:

There are skylights in pretty much every room on the main level of the house. And Jon informed me last week that those windows way up there by the ceiling are called "clerestories."

This photo is taken from the dining area and you can probably tell that there's a faux finish on the walls. I am not a fan of faux finishes. But Jon claims that he likes it. (I think he's just saying he likes it to avoid having the walls repainted.) I'm willing to live with it for a bit and see how it works with our furniture, but I'm skeptical that the finish will grow on me. I think the space would look better with a nice coat of white.

Wow, it looks amazing! All that light! Post more photos. :)

p.s. PAINT IT. Sorry, Jon!

I covet those high ceilings.

Anna - Yeah, the finish has to go. The more I look at this photo, the more convinced I am of that fact.

The natural light and high ceilings are two of the features that immediately impressed us about this house. I'll try to post more pics in the coming days.

It looks huge! I cannot wait to see more pictures. Is it me, or did you pack and move in an instant?

The house looks great so far! I am coveting your kitchen - WOW.

That's a gorgeous kitchen, Anh-Minh. I am jealous! And I agree, you need to paint over the walls.

Btw, I want to say thank you for introducing me to Anthropologie. I read about it on your blog almost two years ago, and I absolutely love it! I would spend all my paycheck there if I could, I'm sure you can relate.

Your house is amazing! I wish I had skylights... but all that light still can't obscure the *ahem* interesting faux finish. Fresh white paint would be gorgeous with those ceilings.

That is a fantastic kitchen with so much potential. I've just moved into a new place myself, and it requires a lot of work. I'm looking forward to the inspirations coming from this blog!

Hello! I just found your blog via Oh Happy Day and am adding it to my daily reads. Clerestory windows are my favorite future home dream. You house looks like it has lovely bones - I can't wait to see what you do with them!
