Weekend Update

  • Our old neighborhood was a Halloween hot spot. The new one? Not so much. But we still participated in the Halloween tradition of buying lots of half-priced candies at Target the day after.
  • The Yves Saint Laurent exhibit opened at the de Young this weekend, so I dragged Jon to it on Saturday. Beautiful, amazing work. And, maybe it was the nonstop rain that day, but the museum wasn't terribly crowded, so we were able to move through the exhibit with ease. (We were afraid it would be reminiscent of when we saw the Jackie O. exhibit at the Met a few years ago and the place was ridiculously packed and the lines were crazy.)
  • Since we were already in SF, we decided to go on a furniture shopping spree at Room&Board. Hopefully, I'll be able to share photos soon.
  • Also on the home front: The living/dining room has been painted! You may recall that when we bought our house, there was a faux finish on the walls. After attempting to live with it for a few months, we finally agreed (or I insisted) that it had to go.
  • Everyone we know seems to be having babies! We visited with a couple of friends with little ones — all adorable.
  • Yesterday, while we were in the East Bay, I did a little work for a future article and visited with some homeowners who have a lovely Japanese-style teahouse in their backyard. How would you like to hang out here every day after work:

Talk about relaxing. And the teahouse is heated so you can still enjoy it during the cold and rainy days!
