Fresh Paint
Paint, paint, and more paint! There have been a couple of paint-related projects around the house lately. Here's a picture of the bathroom wall that I previously mentioned:

The pattern is basically Cole & Son's Pompeian. I think the room still needs some pops of color though, so I may have to get some new towels in there.
P.S. I can't write a post about paint without mentioning that I am all about Benjamin Moore's "Natura" paints. I first heard about the eco-friendly line on Apartment Therapy and now I won't use any other paint. There are no fumes and it dries super quickly. Which is good because I had to do quite a few touch-ups on the above wall.

Oh My Gosh. I've been waiting to see how your wall turned out ever since you posted a picture with it taped up. It looks incredible! I'm going to study it to try and figure out how you did it. Well done! It looks wonderful!

This is gorgeous! Where are the how-tos?
Posted by: EBrown | January 22, 2009 10:14 PM
Hi EBrown! I don't have any actual how-to's, but I basically:
1) created a diamond-shaped template
2) based on that template, taped up the background grid (the parts that were kept the original wall color)
3) then I just taped in stages, blocking off the areas I was going to paint
I have photos of each stage, which may be more helpful (since this is such a visual project). Let me know -- via comments or email -- if you'd like me to send some over to you.

I love this design. Would you mind sending how-to pictures to me? I have a wall that I wanted wallpaper on and this paint job would work even better!
Thanks,
Ashley

Great work! I'm a scenic artist (the theatre and film people that paint wood to look like metal, styrofoam to look like rock, and wood to look like wood (don't ask why but I have to do this a lot)) and I gotta say this is as good as some of the stuff we've put on stage! great job!
You mentioned in your post that you were looking for some pops of color...how green is your thumb? Because I think all that's missing is a fern. It compliments the pattern, provides a great pop of color and can erm... purify air... haha.
