Desk Job
I'm in the process of revamping our guest bedroom. It's a slow process, as I can't quite find the right desk to place on the left side of the bed. Ideally, it would also serve as a bedside table. The latest contender is the new Flip desk from West Elm:

A potential problem with this option: where to place the bedside lamp. If I leave the desk closed and just let guests open it as they need it, they'd have to keep moving the lamp to open it. If I leave the desk open, there doesn't really seem to be a good spot for the lamp. (I already have a pair of lamps that I'd like to keep in this room.) Maybe I can put a small stool between the desk and the bed just for the lamp. Hmmm ...

wow I really think this configuration with the desk is great. I feel that Bedroom Ideas such as this can change a room's tone substantially.

I agree, it's so hard to combine a guest room and an office. Actually, a little cabinet that could also be a filing cabinet (I know, you always think you can get away without it but then you end up with piles of paper everywhere) might fit well. Or I really love the Eames stools at Room and Board (there's a cheaper one that's similar too). Or put the lamp on a vintage suitcase so there's not too much furniture together? Or a wall sconce? Sorry, getting carried away...

Hi Lucy! The guest bedroom won't actually be used as our own office (we have a separate one), but it seems like most of our visitors arrive with laptops in tow. So I thought it might be nice if they have a dedicated spot in the guest room to work, check email, etc. But this idea has definitely complicated the makeover of the space!
I am a big fan of the Eames stools as well. We have one in the room, next to the armchair. I would LOVE to get one or two more, but they're so pricey! I really like the suitcase idea, too. Maybe I could do one side with the suitcases, and an Eames stool on the other ... Hmmm ...
BTW, that place you stayed at in the Hamptons is AMAZING! (Welcome back!)

I love this piece. It accents the rug really well. since its all wood, its important to keep it clean and in great shape.
