No Place Like Homme

Yesterday, after a delicious lunch at Boulette's Larder, Grant introduced me to two neighboring Russian Hill spots: Loving Cup Cafe (which serves yummy rice pudding) and Homme (which, coincidentally, was written up in Daily Candy yesterday).

The latter was actually closed when we arrived, but as we were about to leave, owner Michelle Homme pulled up in a U-Haul. She had just come back from a buying trip in Southern California. Although the goods that were in the truck aren't on her 1st Dibs site yet, I already know I'm going to love them if her current inventory is any indication. Look at these arrow side tables!

Oh, a customer came in telling me about Boulette's Larder! After being away from the city for 4.5 years, it's so great to rediscover San Francisco. It was so nice to meet you yesterday evening, and so funny to see you two the moment I pulled into town from the desert... thank you so much for your lovely post. I really love those tables. Peter Dunham picked them out with me at the Rose Bowl in August or September. Currently they have smaller pieces of glass on them, they would also be great with stone tops. Thanks again. Best, Michelle

I'm definitely going to check this place out the next time I'm in Russian Hill. I wonder if Michelle is going to start selling any of her hats in the store? Love that she's a milliner.

Michelle - Oh, I love that idea of a stone top instead of glass! Hmmm. Now if only I had a place in my house for two side tables ...

Julie - I was just thinking the other day that I wish I knew someone who made hats (or should take classes myself). Because I have a small head (for an adult) and can never find cute hats that fit me!

Hi Julie and Anh,
When I get more materials in a few months (after I have a chance to settle into the shop more), I would be more than happy to give you some pointers on hat-making. Thanks again for the post Anh, this is very wonderful indeed. Best, Michelle
